Photography

Since age 8, I have been interested in cameras and photography. My first camera was given to me and my brother when we went to visit our Dad in Germany for the first time in 1992. We were given a point and shoot 35mm Vivitar camera. I have no idea how many rolls of film we must have taken during our first trip, but I know when I went to Colorado in 1998, I shot 14 rolls of film and it cost $90 to develop them all! I fell in love with taking photos and Colorado too, of course! Ever since, I have wanted to return to Colorado and have been back on several occasions for mini-trips. (*update: I made it to Colorado and now live here!*)

Since the first 35mm point and shoot camera, I have owned 3 point and shoot digital cameras and 2 digital SLR cameras (a total of 5 digital cameras in the last 10 years).

In 2006, after graduating from college, I got my first digital SLR, an Olympus EVOLT-500 with two lenses (14-45mm, 40-150mm). It was a great beginner camera and a lot of fun to play with, learn on, etc. I carried that camera across the U.S. on my bike trip and took over 6,000 photos with it then. Upon my return, I decided it was time to upgrade after 3.5 years. I decided to switch to Nikon and got a D300s. I have since purchased a couple lenses and have a standard telephoto 18-270mm, 50mm f/1.8, 35mm f/1.8, and a wide-angle 11-16mm lens.
